She's Here...

And so the story goes...I was let off bed rest Wednesday and on Sunday, July 31st, Ashlyn Lorraine Kay joined us. :) Everything went great. We were sitting in church and contractions kept coming stronger and stronger, so I went home to rest and see if they would calm down. Around 2 p.m. we headed to the hospital. When we got there they decided to monitor me first. My doc was out of town (my luck) and I'm sure because I wasn't the on-call doctor's regular patient, he wanted to make sure it really was active labor (it is weird how different doctor's do things differently). I was told to walk the halls for an hour which was extremely uncomfortable, but we did it...did you know 17 laps around the McKay L&D halls is one mile...I think we did at least 2 miles. :)

Anyway, the nurse came back in to where I was being monitored and checked me and said you are definitely in active labor due to the progression within one hour. Around 6 p.m. I was moved to an actual delivery room, doc came and broke my water at 7 p.m. and Ashlyn was here by 8 p.m. She weighed 5lbs 10 oz and was 19 inches long.

Keslee wanted absolutely nothing to do with her at the hospital and Ryah didn't want to let her go. She was so excited. Roles have since reversed. I can't keep Keslee away from her. All she wants to do is hold and feed her, it is pretty cute. Ry likes to hold her on occassion, but it is nothing compared to Keslee. I think she spent a good 70% of every day this week sitting on the couch holding her.

We love you Ashlyn and are so glad you are here!!! :)
